I previously experienced a similar situation with Aristocrat Leisure in July 1997 when the price dropped to 0.65 cents per share. Many were pessimistic, expecting the company to shut down. Now, twenty-seven years later, the share price exceeds $40. Regrettably, I sold my shares too early to invest in overseas property, which cost me significantly. If I had waited another two years, I could have made millions and purchased three properties.
Poker machines, I believe, are akin to commodities; it's challenging to differentiate one company from another based on their activities, as none seem to possess a unique, enduring competitive edge. In such times, many investors buy in bulk and accumulate quietly. Has anyone noticed the buy orders ranging from 500,000 to 1 million shares? They likely have access to the same information we do, yet they continue to purchase.
The blame should not be placed on the Board of Directors or the company. We are simply in a cycle that will eventually shift. Our focus extends to other commodities beyond Lithium, gold, and graphite are two. When it comes to commodities, adopting a stoic approach is beneficial.
If the volatility is too much, it's better to exit and consider it a costly lesson. It raises the question of why continue to hold SYA stock? The following institutions hold significant shares in SYA:-
Citicorp Nominees Pty Limited holds 825,577,887 shares, representing 8.02% of the company.
HSBC Custody Nominees (Australia) Limited has 720,480,818 shares, or 7.00%.
J P Morgan Nominees Australia Pty Limited owns 525,643,421 shares, which is 5.11%.
Acuity Capital Investment Management Pty Ltd holds 250,000,000 shares, amounting to 2.43%.
