is there a logic as to why a stock price drops after a reverse split/consolidation?

No its exactly the same company with exactly the same MC but less shares on issue , over the years I've seen plenty of examples of them going up and going down post consolidation, often short term knee jerk reactions. The over riding principal is if a Company has a value by market norms the market will eventually reflect it and undershoot or overshoot along the way.

Consolidation is inevitable at some point and are often associated with a major event.
