at today's spot prices, do you think the our carbonate plant would be more profitable than our current operation?

Interesting question , the PTS was worked on an average selling price of $US25600t for Carbonate , currently its selling at around half of that so would probably be marginal at best IMO without going into detailed study of the PTS.
From SYA's perspective the outcome if we were producing carbonate now would also be affected by what we had to sacrifice in order to get there in the first place, debt, reduction in WI, OTA terms, dilution etc or any combination of that.

Obviously under the current OTA terms with PLL its better to be producing Carbonate but only if profitable. Like many around here I think going downstream at NAL is a no brainer given everything is on the same site and there is no particular reason why that won't be persued by LD but how it might play out is quite likely different than it seemed possible when margins for Spodumene were measured in thousands of dollars per tonne not hundreds.

The reality is SYA specialise in what they are doing now not Refining and that will dictate how we move forward IMO , we are in no position to take on the risk of going downstream without considerable help financially or technically. With Moblan they have already indicated it would be a spodumene supplier only.

    Cheers Whisky
