Basically LTR required a shorterm OTA as its longer term OTA partners aren't ready. It was either that or sell it into the spot market. An OTA is not a requirement for unallocated spodumene as long as there are buyers in the spot market, what it can do is stabilise prices by removing volotility, that can be advantageous is weak market and disadvantage in a stronger market. In the end they both have connections to market prices but Spot price has no long term strings attached.
Swings and roundabouts really and if you cant get your costs below the price received your in trouble regardless of what path you take.
