On July 18, Tesla announced the execution of a purchase agreement with Intersect Power, a US-based sustainable energy company. Under this agreement, Tesla will supply Intersect Power with Megapack energy storage systems totaling 15.3 GWh. Previously, Intersect Power had cumulatively ordered 2.4 GWh of energy storage systems from Tesla. In 2023, Tesla shipped a total of 14.7 GWh of energy storage products. According to the financial report, Tesla’s Megapack plant in California increased its annual production capacity to 40 GWh by the end of the year. Further expansion of Tesla’s energy storage business is anticipated, contingent on the continued growth of the North American energy storage market.
As of 2024, Tesla operates six major battery and vehicle manufacturing factories worldwide and is currently constructing a new Gigafactory in Santa Catarina, Mexico. Additionally, Tesla has established contracts with Piedmont Lithium (PLL) and Sayona Mining (SYA). The partnership with Piedmont Lithium involves the supply of spodumene concentrate from the North American Lithium (NAL) operation.
