Here is more confirmation that the North West Passage is now open to shipping. General Cargo ship TAAGBORG is in the Arctic Ocean north of Alaska enroute to the North West Passage. It left the Chinese port of Lianyungang on 27 July and will arrive at the Port of Becancour on 24 August.

A transit time of 28 days seems about right.

TAAGBORG was a vessel that I tracked earlier in the year from the Port of Quebec to China via the Panama Canal which took 46 days.

This same vessel did a transit through the North West Passage last year.

As it going Becancour, I think it will likely pick up a load of NAL spod at Port of Quebec and return to China (or to South Korea) while the North West Passage is still open later this month or early next one.

It has a carrying capacity of 21,238 DWT.
