Thats the final and most important star that needs to be lined up for EV's, affordability and its starting to arrive, range is not an issue for the vast majority and is increasing continously, they are more reliable, cheaper to run and can be charged at home for most. A lot of the teething problems are being resolved quickly and mass production is starting.

By almost any measure they are a better product and the infrastructure will grow with them. As a country why would you want to rely on imported fossil fuels from unstable sources more than you absolutely needed to when you have a gaint nuclear power plant in the sky and vehicles that can use it.

When a better product also becomes more affodable there is no stopping it, despite the attempts from those who stand to lose the most to slow the transition.
