I dont think its necessary a matter of Americans not wanting EV's , sales there are on the rise and around 1.5m EV's were sold last year, but you have a situation where big oil has considerable influence and driving culture centres around big vehicles and long distances. Its just a bigger challenge.
Regardless of that, NAL capacity couldn't supply the current requirements for the USA , we just need refineries in close proximity either side of the border IMO. We already supply Tesla.
Certainly never a dull moment in this sector..
