Legacy auto makers need to recoup R&D BYD doesnt and well Tesla doesn't either but prefer to squeeze EVs more than needed on R&D to subsidise other pursuits like robotics .
It's actually quite easy to see why prices on a % basis are where they are in all areas .
As a side note Toyota still building the war chest for EVs while they squeeze every last $ they can out of hybrids and ICEs .
Very very obvious IMO .
