The only reason you'd occupy yourself looking at futures or NASDAQ, etc overnight is if you're a day trader or short term trader looking to take profits. I think some forget that no stock for the entire life of the stock market will continue to finish every day in the green.
I for one am quite happy if SP stagnates as it means investors are holding their shares and not just a pump and dump like MGT was (thankfully I had a measly $500 on them, so didn't get burnt like many others). Stocks that continuously rise without stagnation or pullbacks can be red flags as the dump can be huge and catch many out
