That's more of an inverted hammer than a shooting star, and yes, they are both trend reversing candles, but not until they are confirmed. These candles are more powerful after a long uptrend. In our case, there is no uptrend to speak of. The price consolidated for a couple of weeks and now it just broke out of that consolidation pattern, hence why this reversing candle does not hold much weight. Also, judging by todays market depth, makes it even more so.
