"Something else that makes Quebec an appealing location for resource mining or battery production is their widespread hydropower, which is both plentiful and cheaper than the sources in most other areas. The province has explored working with Tesla as far back as 2018 but has yet failed to come up with anything substantive. That could all change with the way the two parties could be a great fit for each other given how each has just what the other needs.Tesla currently works with Panasonic for the manufacturing of their car batteries. It’s unclear if a deal with Quebec would be simply for contract rights to the resources or if there could be heavier involvement in the production of items like batteries. They have already recently opened a battery facility in Ontario, so their presence north of the border is expanding rapidly.Nothing has been set in stone but the rumors do appear to be heating up. If Tesla could land a partnership with this resource-rich area of the world, it would not only expand their global reach but give them a major potential leg up in the EV war that has come to include a rapidly rising number of customers seeking the title of king of the mountain when it comes to technology, customers, brand recognition and accessibility to materials. Tesla has been on top of the heap for some time, but a power move like this would go a long way towards cementing that position. As of the publishing of this article, Tesla is trading at $1,150.35 per share; more than 30% higher than where it was on January 1, 2021."
