I think it's a media scare tactic to impose more controls as many in the US have refused vaccination so having another variant suits them to push this.
Just google Senator Rand Paul and gain of function research carried out in Wuhan before the pandemic to make viruses more transmissible. This strain is mild but apparently "more transmissible " The public needs to wake up and make their own mind up.
On the market, we will have good support IMO nothing to worry about. Everyone will be buying the dips and watch this move up back to 14 again easy.
