It's not so much ignoring charts but rather charts may ignore fundamentals and look at what may happen with gaps and so forth and thus more predictive by nature. Markets are proactive with expectations - perhaps an element of hype but also existing or foreseeable fundamental value and charts tend to be reactive. Show me a chartist that foreshadowed events in the past few days that led to SP increase, but guessing long termers with all the frustrations had some belief in a company turnaround looking at the company fundamentally. However, I was prepared to write this one off in a worst case scenario - what a difference an announcement can make.

To be fair neither side could predict accurately and thus in some ways FA and TA work hand in hand but in the end it's the market that rules above both. Just a opinion.
