I have shares in SYA as well as AVZ and have been here for a while, so not sure what my AVZ holding has to do with anything. I'll repeat what I said, IMO the most energy intensive part of the lithium process is producing hydroxide because current kiln technology, well the kilns currently used in producing carbonate/hydroxide, operates on diesel or gas. Calcination at 1050 degrees celsius is energy intensive followed by the 250 degrees process - that is a lot of energy to convert 6.5 tonnes of spodumene to 1 tonne hydroxide. I put my numbers up when I assessed a previous proposal and I do hope the PLS Calix technology works because that is certainly a game changer. It seems to me also Green Lithium is seeking to develop a process for producing hydroxide that doesn't use kilns that are gas or diesel fired and I hope that technology works too. Maybe ask Green Technology what will drive power in their kilds,
Mining is energy intensive but not as energy intensive IMO as downstream processing, because if it wasn't, as well as been capital intensive, Australia itself would not be a dig and export economy. But that is another story
For others this is my valuation for SYA and hence why I am here - Post #:60505352
This is my view on CO issue - Post #:60511262 - using the Neaska and Tianqi separate studies on energy need in powering facilities - mine and downstream - Post #:40107095 As I said, I suspect companies are seeking to move technology in downstream processing to been less energy intensive and/or having better energy efficiency and/or seeking to move away fro gas/coal/diesel in firing downstream processing plants.
In terms of mining definately agree hydro/solar/battery storage technology can be used in those operations which is certainly a very very very good thing.
That is my perspective and view.
