Great question and it should be noted that they gave a terrible report card for lithium.
Without assumptions Goldman Sachs were working at a deal with "Battery maker Sunwoda Electronic Co. Inc. and UBS Group AG for a sale of global depositary receipts in Switzerland that could raise as much as $500 million, according to people familiar with the matter."
If Goldman Sachs were aware of their own prediction, why were they dealing with a Chinese battery maker with such a terrible outlook?
All I can suggest is they were wrong IMO and ignore the misrepresentation on the basis that they were acting in their own interest. Certainly spooked the market and provided plenty of opportunities to pick up cheap lithium stocks!
Time will tell! Lithium still on a downhill run but spiking today and up on world markets! Still not enough to improve confidence in SYA.
