That's good mate. We should all have our fingers on the pulse as much as possible in these times of uncertainty.
For me though , its all about ' Sustainable Supply and Demand ' relative to our own individual population as well as as the collective whole. And that is clearly the place where we all want to be at. And when I speak of the ' Whole ' , I mean the whole of the Western developed economies .
Of course it doesn't hurt to have China growing ' in sync ' with the rest as well.
After all , that is what got us to where we are now , and which peaked only a few years back with that whole narrative of ' Synchronized World Growth ' with China consecutively in the double digit GDP growth all the time. .
So one aspect of the push to ' separate ' or decouple from the previous bilateral or multilateral trade landscape between nations in increasing the efforts to wind back the clock and develop our own home grown domestic supply chains is that :- The more we shift away from how it was with the short term pain effects, the more we converged again on this notion of concerted in sync world growth dynamic.
And so as we emerged from what we are presently in now , it ( in sync ) world growth WILL happen again. And it will be more sustainable for ALL.
In other words , it doesn't have to come at the expense of slowing growth for China......because China has its own ' Sustainable supply & demand ' dynamics happening which are central to its own population demographic.
And I'm sure they can see the economic logic of this necessity to PIVOT and transform to a more ideologic ' Nationalistic ' approach to local domestic ' sustainability ' .
So long as we can all get along while this process unfolds we should all be o.k. And in my opinion , the rhetoric certainly doesn't necessarily have to be continuously couched in phrases of ' National Security ' and / or Defense. Even though this point is obvious. So it should be more about the diplomacy on how we ALL get through to the other side of the' said ' common global objectives rather than staring all the time at the obvious issues which don't always need to be said.
We all know what they are , and China is in the fortunate position that it doesn't need to make it all about a game of ' us and them ' all the time.
If each of our Nations can get to that point of self assurance and self confidence ...either individually or collectively , then we too will be in a reasonable position of strength and ' sustainable ' supply and demand growth as well. And we can do it , because we ( the collective whole ) have some of the best and brightest brains of Engineering in the entire World.
And after all it was the Canadians who sold their Nuclear technology way back when in the CANDU reactor to China when its ( China's ) nuclear industry was pretty much in its infancy. Canada punches way way above its weight when it comes to engineering and Chemicals. They even have the largest Fertilizer producing company in the entire world. Not just by market cap like Westfarmers who is from memory around 3rd ranked.
So Australia and Canada as a Team are quite formidable and very much ' potentially ' the emerging future Giant killer nations in the making. For sure Canada .......not so sure or convinced yet about Australia.
