Any agreement can be amended when it suits both parties. The previous offtake was between PLL's Carolina Lithium Project and Tesla. Given the Carolina project is years away (assuming ever) from being operational, Tesla get no lithium SC6 from PLL in the foreseeable future. This doesn't satisfy their desperate need for raw materials.

This amended offtake now includes SC6 from outside of Carolina (big positive for Tesla as they'll actually get SC6 in the short-term), while it's at market prices (big positive for PLL, given that if their Carolina project ever gets built, that particular offtake will have been at least partially satisfied from non-Carolina SC6 sources).
