Another way to look at it also is the EV sample range and mark up costs, Tesla are dropping their prices (profit margin) because they know that this is the first time in years other car companies are developing options that will rival theirs, so they still have to appeal to the masses or they end up losing that market share potentially.

Just goes to show how much Tesla have been ripping off customers, but also fair play to them, they saw an opportunity and exploited it.
