Maybe the stock is being shorted just because it's easy to do so.
High SOI, no revenue, retail fears (overall economy, dropping SP, etc), volatile market (one report by a company known to manipulate markets managed to bring it all down only months ago).
Shorting is a gamble, and they gamble that they can do enough to drop the SP in order to collect profits on their shorts. They they can do enough to raise the SP, and do it all again.
Maybe the stock is being shorted just because it's easy to do...
