Because at the time the contract was drawn $900 was a reasonable price.
With any long term contract you are essentially taking insurance that the price won't drop significantly. The risk of course is that prices might rise significantly. But the long term nature of the contract allows you to secure funding, raise equity etc.
Complaining about it constantly won't change anything. It is what it is.
