Well roads are important and shouldn't be considered a tradeoff to "woke" policies like encouraging greater adoption of EVs...

I think you will find that as the market grows over the next few years, there will be a quick and rapid move to encouraging adoption. The government has definitely been slow, not just in Melbourne but Sydney as well (I still have my BMW for longer trips as it is just too difficult to manage with the Tesla given the lack of fast chargers). It should be a priority and I think it will increasingly become a bigger priority as there is increasing pressure on governments to invest in the infrastructure necessary to enable to the adoption of EVs. As tech improves and economies of scale are achieved (we are already seeing this with Tesla) I think you will find that there will be a sufficiently large number of EV users that the issue of EV infrastructure becomes a major voting issue, with politicians positing bigger and bigger spending programs. Keep in mind Australia is only a small source of demand, the US, China and Europe are much bigger sources of demand and especially in the US, there have been significant investments that will support demand into the future. What Australia does is largely irrelevant (though it would be nice for our sake if they could invest more into EV infra)
