The EU and Germany have reached an agreement to phase out all vehicles using fossil fuels by 2035. The only ICE engines that will be allowed to be registered will use synthetic or "efuels" and are neutral in their CO2 emissions.
2035! The deadlines are becoming shorter and shorter.
