Can't see it happening in the next few years, not an outright ban anyway. I live rural, there's zero charging stations along many routes and I can drive 8hrs a day for work when required. An 8hr driving day would mean a minimum overnight stay and even then the motel is highly unlikely to have the capacity to charge an EV. Even if there's a charging station or two along the way, it'd add an extra few hours on to that trip by topping up along the way. If I run out of petrol, it's an easy call to roadaside assist to give me enough to get to the next servo. With an EV, it's a tow if you run out of charge.

I think the important thing to consider here is that lithium is required for the majority of devices these days, at least until better battery technology comes along and that's still many years away
