It will be interesting to see what happens with the price of oil as EV penetration becomes significant. Government induced tariffs/taxes aside, will oil become more expensive as it gradually becomes a speciality item, further applying pressure on ICE drivers to make the switch?
Or, as we saw during the initial COVID lockdowns, will the massive reduction in demand mean that oil is worthless? Will this potential worthlessness alter the refueling infrastructure landscape, forcing service stations to close down, or assuming they've all pivoted to fast charging, ripping out the fuel pumps because the cost to maintain them isn't worth the patronage of 3 hobby motorists in their area?
It will be interesting to see what happens with the price of oil...
