Your idealism is admirable but that's not how it works in the realities of working life. If it were how would you explain that 100% of the board are male? That there are no women have the ability to do the job? Obviously sexist nonsense. Maybe consider (not specific to SYA) replacing 'ability' with terms like old boy networks, mates, cronyism, gatekeepers of jobs by people with jobs, sexism against women in the workforce, punching down keyboard warriors, etc. It's a cultural problem because people aren't always hired solely on ability. Hence the attempt to address the imbalance. I concur however that diversity hires for their own sake are a vanity that can detrimental to all, including the hiree.
