If you are producing a concentrated material, it matters not if you are transporting it 10,000 kilometres, 100 kilometres or it remains on site , the waste has to be disposed of somehow.
If it remains on site, it is much simpler to do and you don’t pay any transport costs for that amount of waste.
Let’s not kid ourselves that we will be converting all of our SC into carbonate or hydroxide on site, any time soon.
