So currently the technology is at a pilot plant phase and what it would mean is that instead of using a rotary kiln (which is required to be used to turn alpha spodudeme into beta spodumene, which is more porous and enables the extraction of the Lithium mineral to be more efficient) they would use a soak well and blend the alpha spod with sodium hydroxide to make it aqueous, then use microwave tech to extract the mineral.
What it would mean for NAL/Moblan and other Canadian producers is more dependancy on cheaper hydroelectricity, less gas and obviously a higher recovery rate.
