It seems the little rumour on X a few days ago about a 90 day pause on reciprocal tariffs was correct.
Trump continues to play with markets by going back on his promise and announcing a 90 day pause on reciprocal tariffs last night (except for China, Mexico and Canada) causing the market to bounce more than 10% overnight. If one were a trader, they could clean up like no one has ever cleaned up before.
I'm curious to know what happens to the cargo which arrived from reciprocal tariffed countries in the previous 24 hours; will they be price disadvantaged or have their tariffs refunded to the importer? Nothing is certain anymore.
Before the announcement gold spiked at $5,150 and settled around $5,000 after the announcement. With lingering uncertainty for at least 90 days and an ongoing trade war with China IMO gold will be the beneficiary and should do very well IMO.
