I think the below excerpt from a Washington Post article titled, "Why calling food 'vegan' isn't helping people to eat more plant-based food," is relevant to the discussion here.
Perhaps dropping vegan for sustainable will be better for marketing purposes. Although as we saw on LinkedIn on the NC6 post that Josef Hearle shared, the real leather people will likely have convulsions at the implication..
