aren't the majority of funds that track the ASX300 done so on a weighting basis and not actively managed? So these funds will only ever carry as much or as little as is needed to maintain to relevant holding. Wouldn't be expecting a positive or negative effect (or protection / support) that is a direct effect of the inclusion. sure more people may invest in the likes of VAS to get exposure to IHL but the same could be said about these funds lending shares to brokers for other reasons. Its likely that inclusion has opened additional avenues of investment though, such as super funds and investment companies that only invest in asx300 companies
