We are lucky to be in the medical space
Dronabinol is a synthetic form of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the main active ingredient in marijuana. Dronabinol is used to treat symptoms of anorexia associated with weight loss in people with AIDS and nausea and vomiting associated with cancer chemotherapy in patients who have failed to respond adequately to conventional antiemetic treatments. It is marketed under the brand name Syndros and was approved by the FDA in July 2016.
Cannabidiol (CBD)
is a naturally occurring compound found in the cannabis plant. It is a non-psychoactive substance, meaning it does not produce the "high" commonly associated with marijuana use. CBD has been shown to have a range of potential therapeutic benefits, including reducing anxiety, improving sleep, and reducing pain and inflammation.
In 2018, the FDA approved a prescription drug called Epidiolex, which contains pure cannabidiol and is used to treat two rare and severe forms of epilepsy, Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome, in patients 2 years of age and older. This approval marked the first time the FDA has approved a drug derived from the cannabis plant. However, it is important to note that the use of marijuana for medicinal purposes remains illegal under federal law.
Good luck all
