I am not trying to spoil your wet dream bubble here. But I have seen so many bad real life cases and the forming of them.
IMHO, even if 42x turned out to be the god sent products. By that time, Joel and co already owned big part of the company. They get to decide what price to sell and not you. Cost base of their share is most likely 0 so that alone is already not aligned with your cost base. Therefore, the value perspective is mismatched.
Conclusion is you probably won't get to breakeven.
