When opening price 'gaps' up higher than previous days closing price (or vice versa) - the gap in prices can sometimes act as a magnet for future trading outcomes. Purists love them to be filled (I.e. Price reverts back to the gap that was left) but sometimes they can be genuine gaps that won't be filled created by catalysts. Would do a quick Google on it if you get the chance, I'm just a n00b so there's plenty of better advice on it out there.
