The first is a literature review.... that is assessing the state of research generally by looking closely at, and evaluating the findings of, the most representative, or in this cast the only, studies to have the size and significance to demonstrate the efficacy and safety of the hypothesised therapeutic benefits.

There is a paucity of recent clinical studies into psilocybin or LSD assisted therapy. If you read the article you will understand better.

There was a boom in research studies in the 50's to early 70s into LSD as a treatment for psychosis. (see R.D.Laing and others https://mh.bmj.com/content/46/3/184 ). Findings were inconclusive and, again, were 'observational' within a short time frame with very small subject numbers.
