maybe it's just me, but I swear this whole 'sell the news' mentality has been exacerbated by the influx of retail over the last 18 months or so.

hear me out.

The volume of retail traders has exploded in the last year and a bit, the commsec account data alone tells you that.
Not only that, but all the access to social media has retail acting in a more cohesive fashion, as a population, than ever before.

When you're new to something, beyond acting in the herd mentality, you tend to look for metrics you understand.

Deep dive fundamentals analysis is not easy, detailed TA is not easy to learn or execute, but simple axioms like 'sell the news' are easy to grasp and if you make a bit of cash, the temptation is to start thinking you've got this stock market game sussed.

Add to that all the hype some of the more popular stocks get, you've got a cocktail creating more extreme movements.

I know speccie land is always swings and roundabouts, but I swear it's getting more extreme.

Or possibly I'm just getting older....
