The volume of retail traders has exploded in the last year and a bit, the commsec account data alone tells you that.
Not only that, but all the access to social media has retail acting in a more cohesive fashion, as a population, than ever before.

When you're new to something, beyond acting in the herd mentality, you tend to look for metrics you understand.

Deep dive fundamentals analysis is not easy, detailed TA is not easy to learn or execute, but simple axioms like 'sell the news' are easy to grasp and if you make a bit of cash, the temptation is to start thinking you've got this stock market game sussed.

Add to that all the hype some of the more popular stocks get, you've got a cocktail creating more extreme movements.

I know speccie land is always swings and roundabouts, but I swear it's getting more extreme.

Hi Lurker this share has always been retail predominant. But l take your point. I think if you checked the demographics you if able you would find that patience is becoming a generational difference and driver in a lot of cases. Happy to wait until the fish gets a bit bigger and l can enjoy the meal a few times.
