Look at the states in the US that haven’t locked down.

There’s plenty of ways to gain herd immunity. But you have to accept some mortality. Old, sick people will die... because that’s what happens to old, sick people when they get a respiratory illness. It’s typically influenza, but this year it’s got another name.

And politicians aren’t willing to admit publically that they’re prepared to lose a number of old people to allow the young to continue to work and keep the economy open.

It’s infectious, yes. But, for the overwhelming majority, it’s a mild/insignificant illness. Influenza, however, kills all ages. COVID doesn’t seem to. Yet we’ve shut down economies worldwide... Australia is in recession for the first time since the early 90s. We don’t shut economies down ever flu season, do we?

Therapeutics and social medicine is the answer.

A vaccine won’t be part of it for a very long time, if at all.
