Now regarding crypto - I think Jay Clayton staved off crypto regulation till industry overwhelmed him with pressure/lobbying (they need this to bolster their credibility) so he reluctantly agreed. He had a look at what he had just agreed to and decided to ditch that fiasco onto the next guy pronto - he gave the heads up to JP and the big boys, then announced it, then announced his exit. Wouldn't necessarily say he intended to harm bitcoin as he left. Should be interesting to see where it all goes. The paradox of centralizing regulation upon the utopian decentralized currency dream. Is it a currency or is it a service/transaction ledger? Ultimately - blockchain is a great new tech, like the internet, cellphones etc The next big thing will supersede it sooner or later.
