VW, Audi, BMW totally missed the EV train. EU Governments are struggling with the economical desaster implied by that. want to put punitive tariffs and china imports, ....
rethinking the ban of combustion engines.
That's a motherhood and apple pie issue. Germany, Italy, even Austria is suffering as european car manufacturers simple were too arrogant to see the change.
Your arguments on shortage of energy are completely wrong. Your are missing the big picture and the vision.
Energy distribution is on its end, grids are the bottleneck and even in infrastructure they missed decades to build and enlarge. But this is the big chance the europeans have in combination with EVs. The energy generation is already getting distributed by PV-plants and needs to be de-centralised even more.
Just imagine every second household with an EV with a V2G standard using one third of the batterie for stabilising the power grids. There would be no more issues with instabilities and no need to invest in the energy distribution infrastructure.
Regarding the battery price - greed is the main problem here.
Simply compare the price: 50kWh PV battery with D2D delivery to Europe - $8500, if you buy it as a high quality product from a european company you will have to pay more than $50k. Cells are the same, make your thoughts.
It's not an ideological vision which has failed, it is simply surpressed by politicians without a vision and greedy companies. But every disruptive invention will succeed, batteries did this already in tools like a cordless screwdriver which everyone has at home - it will be the same with cars.
