One of the other threads has noted resettlement issues. Shifting discussion to general on this, google still has old 2016 maps for this area but they are high detail. As at the point in time there were only a very limited number of buildings that would appear to be impacted by the plans. While work on the RAB is needed, it may be a small number of households impacted which would assist the speed and cost when ready to implement.

This is the wider google maps picture. Mehenge is the major nearby population centre.


This was the picture of the Epanko area (from 2016). The brown dirt area of Epanko primary school provides a useful reference point that aligns to the top left corner of the EGR text box "Accommodation". To the left of the Google map text "Epanko Primary School" is a north-south string of trees. That string of trees is just to the left of the EGR text "Embankment" and just to the right of the proposed pit outline. The whole proposed mine area was devoid of houses, at least as at 2016. There looks to be a few in the proposed processing site location but given the greater flexibility as to where progressing plants are located this would appear acceptable because if it wasn't you would simply choose another of the many bare-ground locations.





This building looks to be just to the lower left of the proposed processing site.


The sentinel satellite of July 2024 shows that the proposed pit area remains clear of houses. The most visible feature is the exploratory work along the ridge line of the proposed open pit mine.
