There is a lot of things that could go wrong when the technology involves a mechanical process with heat. I will give you some examples: BHP’s disastrous $2.5 billion hot briquette iron plant at Port Hedland was abandoned after a series of safety incidents including a fatal accident and Rio Tinto’s $1 billion HIsmelt pig iron ore plant in Kwinana was a commercial flop.

Not to say they can't succeed - it will come to how well they project manage this. When it comes to unproven technology and implementing something mechanical and involving heat, Australia doesn't have good track record.
