The Mali government called for peaceful support on the streets of Mali last Friday, over a million people turned up.

They're frustrated with the French and their influence on ECOWAS.

ECOWAS thought Mali would buckle to their demands however the opposite is happening, the Port of Dakar in Senegal has come to a standstill, 80% of the ports exports head for Mali. Senegal has just announced a 1bn deep water port upgrade, since Sunday previous 100s of transportation trucks have been diverted to Mauritania and Guinea.

It's a similar story at the Port of Abidjan.

Stating the obvious, trade works both ways.

Little wonder ECOWAS are looking to end this standoff
