    Morning ALL,

Latest developments of note out of Mali is more evidence of the closing of the gap between the transition government and ECOWAS regarding time lines for elections. The 'government' have created a new charter and it should be favourable to ECOWAS , one point that was going to be a sticking point was the eligibility of the current head of the transition to stand for president in the up coming elections. This has been ruled out and Colonel Goïta will not be allowed to stand. see link below.

Finally, the debates are still ongoing. ECOWAS, the regional organization, is considering twelve months as a deadline, the incumbent president recently said . But in another technical note, a working document from several partners of Mali (ECOWAS, the UN, the African Union), consulted by RFI, there are two plans as a basis for discussion: a transition of twelve months, and Plan B, a sixteen-month transition before an election.

The paragraph above was taken from the link provided

SO, it seems we are getting ever closer to a conclusion, six months is all that is separating the two sides now, I think the transition government will blink first and concede to the ECOWAS pressure re sanctions etc.

    ALL imo and DYOR

    Regards
