The thing is, being up 10k would be about 10k less than how I was going yesterday, and the fact that this is even a possibility to me now is what caused my worrying to begin with. I've now been made aware than splitting the company into two can in fact reduce its overall value for no particular reason. But it's all good. Everyone here has reassured me and I can confirm I am no longer off the rails. And before you say it, yes I am aware this is the stock market and nothing is guaranteed.
