I read an article the other day that had me gobsmacked and flabbergasted, and just sitting there with my mouth open. It was from an African mining journal, and now I'll be damned if I can find it again, I've been searching for hours. Anyway, it related to the changes that had taken place in the four (4) villages surrounding Morila, while FFX was the owner.
The first impression was to wonder how much money had been spent on village and community and agricultural and infrastructure developments, all of it coming from FFX apparently. It seems like those villages and communities had used FFX as a bank, not only were the loans interest free, but all the money was completely freely given. FFX was truly a river to it's people. Australians are such generous people to African villages and are to be widely applauded. Those villages must be extremely grateful for such support.
It gives the impression that money funneled from FFX in Australia to Morila S.A. in Mali was then handed out in enormous quantities by someone in finance at Morila S.A. (presumably) for all of these village and community and agricultural and infrastructure projects.
There were farms created, multiple agricultural projects, roads, water facilities, housing, schools built, over 200 teachers trained, a hospital upgrades and nurses trained, child care facilities, admin buildings, vehicles purchased, and all kinds of equipment, and a hundred other projects all paid for by the bank of FFX apparently. It was mind boggling. The African journalist who wrote it was also in awe.
And all of this before Morila had even produced an ounce of gold.
I'm a bit tired today, but I'll try again tomorrow to see if I can find that article, I know it was from an African online journal, and I translated it from the French.
