On AR3’s website it states that Angus Barker has been a trusted adviser to corporations and governments for decades. Also, he’s served for eight years in senior roles advising Australian Government Ministers in relation to policy matters including Trade & Investment and Superannuation & Financial Services.
With that kind of experience and the 2023 Federal budget due next week, its possible that the Australian critical minerals sector may expect to find a boost.
The budget is expected to show crazy levels of expenditure for all sorts of our security and aging population needs. Yet, the current mix of tax bases to create revenue to pay for this are inefficient and eroding – so the scope to reign in deficits through pending cuts alone will do nothing to reverse this trend.
However, as the global thematic of our energy transition picks up pace – Australia’s role as a stable source of raw supply will be crucial. Therefore, one way of raising more revenue is by supporting the development of Australia’s critical minerals industries to generate royalties which in turn create Australian jobs that go on to rebuild regional communities and services.
Therefore, if ever there was a time for Australia to capture the moment that could underpin future federal budgets, this could be it!
