Paid presentation in a newspaper - I am not sure folks know it is paid for the page space and the write ups that go with it. Traders catch wind of the upcoming article, pump the stock early in to the news. Picking up helpless victims along the way that leap in. The stock goes higher and more and more people sucked in.
Almost 300% rise in the SP in 2 weeks post pump.
Traders off load at the top and retail are left to slowly self cannibalise the stock as patience is lost and the reality of a quick buck diminishes. Time passes more and more until you are left with those who could not face the reality of the situation and are left holding the empty bag.
