It sure is good country.

AR3 is proposing to do something quite different to the conventional open pit mines most know about. Adopting a continuous shallow mine-dig and rehabilitation process. Moving from one part to another in quick succession.

For this reason, AR3 is a particularly sophisticated and user-friendly mining project. They are extracting the rare earth oxides with magnesium which is used by farmers on their top soil to benefit plant growth.

In my opinion, the shallow digging may help to aerate the compaction caused by years of land use, which could enhance the land's overall productivity. Working with soil scientists, last year AR3 successfully completed a trial 'mine-and-rehabilitation' program within six months. Returning the land back to the farmer so they can start growing crops again. See bottom image.

Since ionic clay mining is, relatively new in the western world, this practice may prove to be the best mining technique ever discovered. A win-win scenario for farmers and the need to reduce carbon emissions on Earth, not to mention supply chains.
