The Henry Jackson Society has just launched its latest report -

‘Decreasing Rare Earths Dependency: How the Five Eyes Alliance Can Minimise Rare Earths Trading Risk with China’, by Dr Helena Ivanov.

Dr Ivanov’s report explores strategies for Five Eyes Alliance countries to diversify away from China for the importing of rare earth elements (REEs). Read the full report here.

This is what AR3's Chairman, Angus Barker has to say about it:

What’s the willingness of consumers to pay for the development of new, diverse, reliable and environmentally responsible supplies of the rare earths needed for our energy transition⚡️(and national security)?

A new report by The Henry Jackson Society and Freshwater Strategy makes a useful contribution to the policy debate, with some interesting polling data from across the FiveEyes partners. Recent moves such as the imposition of new tariffs in the USA and EU on EVs from China will help underpin the emergence of a non-China price structure for Rare Earths. Ultimately, this could lead to the development of Rare Earths price indexes outside of - as Darryl Cuzzubbo from Arafura Rare Earths Limited has argued for.

And the Australian Government’s support for new mines through Export Finance Australia’s Critical Minerals Facility, and the Critical Minerals Production Tax Incentive, are very welcome.

But additional policy responses are required now, especially aming Australia’s friends & allies.

has the minerals, but unless , , , get their skates on and start building downstream metallisation and magnet making plants, to meet the needs of their automotive, wind turbine, defence, medical and robotics industries, then the next generation of Rare Earths mines will be all dressed up with no place to go…except .

A point I made in recent meetings in Brussels as part of the European Australian Business Council (EABC) 2024 business mission, and at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute Darwin Dialogue on Critical Minerals. Source

    Great place to be parked!
